The remit for this home gym project in Bickley was to convert an existing garage into an authentic warehouse-style gym, which the Brooks and Gill team delivered on in just 4 weeks. In order to create the desired warehouse feel we retained the original garage roller door at one end of the space, and at the other end we fitted a large set of aluminium bi-fold doors. Having both ends of the gym space with opening doors, means efficient ventilation when the workouts or the weather demand.

The traditional flat garage ceiling was raised into a vaulted ceiling, with the inclusion of an enclosed mezzanine floor, designed to be a storage area for all those things that were normally stashed out in the garage! To create a gym fit for purpose and longevity, we added a hard-wearing timber floor, and the dual-purpose air-conditioning/heating system enabled maintenance of the perfect environment for a busy, family home gym.

The whole space was fully insulated, plaster boarded and painted white throughout. Additionally, on one wall we added white brick slips for a stylish warehouse look and feel, before mounting the client’s TV, sound bar and mirror. After our work was completed, the client then commissioned a local graffiti artist to add the finishing touch to their garage conversion with a wonderful mural which paid tribute to the whole family.
