The Bickley loft conversion project was an absolutely gorgeous loft conversion in a impressive house in Bromley. This loft conversion presented particular technical challenges in order to counteract the weight on the existing trussed roof during the main works. The original trussed roof, which supported the first floor ceilings, remained in place. Before we started, we had to remove the majority of the tiles from the roof to lighten the load on the timber trusses whilst we altered the design to accommodate the new layout. In order to position the required 22 steel beams we secured the services of a crane for 2 days and with a winning combination of brute strength and good luck, all beams went in first time!

Once the steel beams were in position we began construction of the new walls and cut away the timber trusses that were soon to be redundant. With the walls in position, we then insulated and put plasterboard on all the walls and ceilings. Once the walls were all plastered, we then decorated the loft space and and cut out wood for the beautiful oak staircase which was being created to match the original in the main house. Once the staircase was in place we were then able to manhandle the huge shower tray into position before getting started on the stylish ensuite bathroom. Finally, the fitted wardrobes were discreetly built into the alcoves and voila! this stunning project was completed in just 16 weeks!
